A famous tourist destination is the Pelisor Castle (“Little Peles”) which is situated in the museum complex at Sinaia. Pelisor is almost adjacent to Peles Castle being part of the same complex as the larger castle. King Ferdinand intended to use Peles Castle as a summer residence, but he found it too big, so it was build the Pelisor Castle between 1899 – 1903 by order of King Carol I.
Pelisor is smaller compared to Peles Castle, which Queen Maria used to call “The Big Palace”. It has 99 rooms very nice decorated at the initiative of Queen Maria because most of the design ideas and suggestions were given by her. The most important attractions of the Pelisor Castle are the golden room and the hall of honor which has very simple design but is absolutely elegant.
